FAQ

Have Questions? We have answers!

General

Where are you based?

Our home is on the south shore of Nova Scotia, however we work almost anywhere your love brings us. We've worked in sandy and warm destinations all the way to Manitoba in the middle of winter. While we’re not exactly marketed as destination wedding photographers, it’s safe to assume we're open to travel.

Do you photograph 2sLGBTQ+ couples?

Yes. If it wasn't obvious already, absolutely yes! We're queer, both of us, we love all types of love and if you can't get down with that then we're not a good fit anyhow. If you're community, or or an ally just looking to hire more queer wedding vendors, ask us for our queer wedding vendor guide.

Can you photoshop our photos?

We do not do body modification editing. “If it’ll be gone in two weeks, it’ll be gone in the photos.” is our tried and true approach to this ask. If there’s something you’re self conscious about we invite you to share it with us in advance so we can photograph you with that in mind.

How do you describe your photography?

If we had to categorize our style we’d say predominantly candid, documentary photography with approachable editorial vibes. We like to make people feel special and look amazing on their wedding day. The tools and approach we use is specific to each moment but we prioritize connection, so as much as our photography speaks for itself our customer service and attention to detail is the secret to our success.

WEDDING DAY

What if you can’t make it on our wedding day?

This is every photographer’s biggest fear, and because of this we have strong connections in our networks to refer work we’re unavailable for but also as a failsafe in emergencies like this. If we cannot fulfill our promise to you we will connect you with a replacement. If this isn’t possible we’d refund you entirely.

How long should we schedule for photos?

In the same way that there’s no two weddings alike, there are no two schedules alike. We have a few guiding principles to photography and timing; 1. You’re hiring us to tell a story, it’s your story so we need to learn what’s important to you and 2. We want you to experience your wedding day, not a photoshoot. During our pre-booking meeting we’ll get to know each other and from there we will be able to make a preliminary photography schedule that’ll capture the right amount of each part of your day.

Do we need to feed you at our wedding?

Sometimes. During elopements and smaller weddings, or depending on your schedule, it doesn’t always make sense - but if you’re eating, it’s usually the best time for us to eat too. In our experience, what’s worked best for coverage and photo yield is being served early and when possible sitting with guests - this ensures coverage continues uninterrupted.

What gear do you use and what happens if it breaks?

It varies - we use the right tool for the job at hand. We shoot primarily on professional quality Fuji cameras and we use different film stocks depending on the venue, climate and location. We have backup equipment on us and carry commercial business insurance. Cameras are just tools to do our job, it’s how we use those tools that counts.

Booking & Packages

How do we book you?

Reach out using any of our contact forms and tell us about yourselves and include any confirmed information about your wedding. We'll send you a pricing guide that includes package recommendations that fit the coverage needs of your day. We always like to connect in a more personal way as an added step, telephone or video chat, to confirm it’s a good fit. Once we've all decided on a package there's a contract and a retainer, then our services are secured - we’re your wedding photographers!

What is your retainer?

Our retainer is $500 CDN, plus hst for every wedding package. We accept the retainer and a signed contract at the same time to reserve your wedding date in our calendar. If you’re booking a package with us that requires accommodations or travel your retainer will vary in congruence with the additional expenses.

How do we pay you?

We accept e-transfers, cash and can provide you with a secure payment link if you prefer to use a credit card.

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?

Retainers are non-refundable, but we are human. Reach out to discuss the changes and we’ll do our best to reach an agreement. We will work with you to find an alternative date in our calendar and simply move the retainer to the new date. If we can’t find an agreeable date and are unable to rebook the original date the retainer is forfeited. Rescheduling is subject to current rates.

Delivery

Will you send us sneak peeks or previews?

Yes, and we get really excited about sending them too! We send them out in the first 72 hours, sometimes sooner. Film images need to be processed in a lab so they take longer; if we’re capturing film on your wedding day you will see the final results in your finished gallery.

How do we receive our images?

A gorgeous online digital gallery will arrive in your inbox, usually 8-10 weeks after your wedding. From there you can download all of your images in high resolution (ready for print) and web-sized (ready for social media), order prints and create your own curated galleries to share with loved ones.

How many images will I receive?

You will receive a large gallery full of every image we don't cull out for missed focus, blinking eyes, unflattering faces, duplicates, etc. We average 80-100 images per hour of wedding coverage. We don't have a minimum or maximum number of images per package because every wedding is different, schedules and timelines vary, decor elements, number of guests, etc. We've been told by planners and colleagues that our galleries are larger and filled with "so many candids".

What is your turnaround time?

Our images are edited with care and delivered as soon as possible. In peak wedding season the wait can be a bit longer than in the winter or shoulder seasons. Our goal is to deliver all wedding galleries 8-10 weeks after the event, and engagement and couples sessions in 2-4 weeks. We work hard to keep the editing que moving along - we’re just as excited to send it to you as you are to receive it!
