Hornby Island Wedding

This Hornby Island Wedding day in British Columbia kicked off with with a literal rainbow. Everyone had their own cell phone photo to share because word spread around the resort quickly. The couple, Silas and Colette both got ready in the wedding suite at Sea Breeze Lodge, along with their adorable dog, Joey.

They shared their first look at Grassy Point, a very special spot to both Silas and Colette. This was followed by an impromptu first look between Colette and her father, and a few other members of the wedding party (and Silas’ mother).

They had an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony beneath a beautiful floral arch, surrounded by their loved-ones and an epic British Columbia backdrop of ocean and mountains. The ceremony was incredibly emotional—there wasn’t a dry eye. Then we did couples portraits along the coastal path back to the main resort area.

The couple walked back to their guests and kicked off the wedding reception with a quick playful first dance. As everyone took their seats for dinner, Silas had a secret waiting to surprise everyone. The MC’s, Sarah and Vanessa worked from a script, Sarah was nowhere to be found, Vanessa was asking for help and enlisted the support of a special someone, a someone you might know—a certain Canada’s Drag Race superstar! Synthia Kiss was announced (Colette’s favourite drag queen) and the whole room exploded with cheer and excitement! Synthia performed throughout the dinner, and MC’d the entire reception alongside Sarah and Vanessa.

After dinner, the couple cut the cake, except they ditched a typical wedding cake in favour of pies! Later in the night, the couple introduced many to the drink known as “Shaft”, a coffee based cocktail sure to power you through a night of fun, BC smoke and sweat. With a noise bylaw in the area the party continued for some via a silent disco around a massive bonfire down by the ocean with 3 different DJ channels. This Hornby Island wedding was certainly a night to remember.
